A Season of Change

We have been going thru a season of change and as a result, we are looking at how God changes us. I was always under the impression that if I needed to change, then I would have to do something, in my own power and strength to accomplish this. Boy was I fooled!

When I started looking at all that needed to be changed in my life, I realized that my focus was not on God for help but rather on my own willpower.

You know, "pull yourself up" or "it's ok, I can handle it" or my favorite "I'm FINE" ( "Freaked out, Insecure, Neurotic, and Emotionally unstable").

My mask firmly in place, covering up all of my pain and then making the 'fake' statement and giving the impression that everything in my life is great, when reality is that most things in my life aren't great.

Wow, how time flies! I just realized that I have not posted in a while and wanted to bring you up to date!

There have been so many changes since the last post and will commit to posting more often.

We have been on an emotional roller-coaster over the last several months.

I was laind off in August of 2010 and have been unsuccessful in finding new employment. I continue to trust God in everything and to "...be joyful in all circumstances!". I believe that God has a plan for me!

Today, I realize that I need and desire God to be The Master in my day and that I cannot rely on my own strength for guidance. I NEED God! I Crave His presence! I want to walk in a way that is pleasing to Him!

Question: HOW!

Thru Celebrate Recovery, I continue to learn how much God loves me and how much He wants me to be walking with Him. I get to see how Powerful He is and how much He cares! I get to visit the sick, the incarcerated and the hopeless. I get to lead the lost into a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! I get to mentor others! I get to see how God works in peoples lives! And believe it or not, I get to see miracles happen in peoples lives and my own!

I want you to experience what I get to see. Are you ready? Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Are you fed up with the guilt and shame? Are you ready to change your legacy?

If so, come and join us on Wednesday evenings for dinner and fellowship starting at 5:30 PM in the ERC North building Room N-111 and see if it can happen for you!

Remember... God loves you and so do we!

Last weekend we were at Seacoast Community Church in Encinitas, CA - Wow, what a weekend. The Networking Event was outstanding. This was the first Event of this type in the San Diego area and was very well attended. Thanks to the State Reps - George T. (Inland Empire), Jim D. (Bakersfield), Cathy T. (Long Beach) for making this such a great day! Also thanks to all the volunteers who provided an entire day of service and to Bob N. for providing the facility, and his expertise as a pastor and overseer for the event.

We heard very powerful mini-monies throughout the day and some great discussion about the ministries that are already running as well as excellent questions from those who were exposed, for the first time, to Celebrate Recovery.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program directed to EVERYONE with a hurt, hang-up or habit. I guess the best way to explain this is by asking someone the following 3 questions and then making that statement that follows:

1. Have you ever been hurt?
2. Have you ever hurt anyone else?
3. Have you ever sinned?

The statement:

"Welcome to Celebrate Recovery!"

This program is a safe place where anyone can come and discuss their issue(s) within their group and know that they are in the "right place".

Go on-line to http://www.celebraterecovery.com/ and select "Find a Group" in the "upper right corner" of the 'front page'. The locations are listed by state (select a state) and then the locations are listed alphabetically by city. And, keep checking back because there are new Celebrate Recovery ministries being added all the time.

If you know of a CR ministry and you don't see it on the web-site, let us know about it - we want to make sure they get the exposure and benefit of using this great resource!

See you soon!

Celebrate Recovery Summit

The greatest thing about Celebrate Recovery is watching the parade of changed lives every day! God is so amazing and He "never wastes a hurt"!

Celebrate Recovery is all about bring people to Jesus where a person can find the healing from life's Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups. We watch each week as men and women of alkl ages and walks, come to hear the message and then as they continue to attend, we get to see the smiles come back, lives restored, relationships mended and families re-united.

I always look forward to the Friday night program because this is where the celebration occurs. When I first got "sober", I was not aware of God and was certainly not "looking for Him". I learned over time that God was always there and that He had the plan for my life and was waiting patiently for me to invite Him in. When I did, the continuation of miracles occurred, and when I look back at this process, I realize that God had control all of the time and I was the foolish one who thought I was making all of the decisions on my own.

Today, I look forward to the continuing miracles in my own life and recognize, more and more, the miracles that are happening around me. Another revelation was that When I let God have control, I don't have to play God and try to do all of it on my own.

God is awesome and His plan is perfect -
